Block Paving Re-sand & Seal
Jet washing is the most effective way to clean block paving — but it also flushes out the kiln-dried sand in the joints. Without that sand, the blocks become unstable and start to move, weeds push through the gaps almost immediately, and water penetrates under the surface more easily. A clean drive that hasn’t been re-sanded looks good for a few weeks, then quickly deteriorates.
St Albans Jet Washing offers block paving re-sanding and sealing as an add-on to every driveway and patio clean. We re-sand the joints with fresh kiln-dried sand to stabilise the surface, then apply a quality sealant to lock the sand in, repel water and oil, and keep the surface looking cleaner and better protected for years.

The process
Surfaces we clean
The most common block paving in Hertfordshire. Kiln-dried sand re-sanding followed by sealant keeps it stable and protected.
Fresh kiln-dried polymeric sand is brushed into all joints across the whole surface. This stabilises the blocks, fills any gaps, and provides the base for the sealant to adhere to.
A quality block paving sealant is applied across the entire surface. This locks in the jointing sand, repels water and oil, makes the surface easier to maintain and significantly slows weed and algae regrowth.
We re-sand all joints — including edges, borders and kerb lines, which are often neglected in cheaper jobs. A re-sand that misses the edges is a re-sand half done.
We'll tell you how long to keep the surface dry before use, what the sealant covers and doesn't cover, and when to expect full cure. A proper handover is part of every job.
